I don't write very often...
And it’s not that I have much to say, it’s just that I’m never particularly sure how to say what I need to get off my chest. Particularly, I seem to have this problem when everything in life is going well. I can only write in misery, when I’m dealt hands of turmoil and trouble. Writing in misery seems to be drastically easier than writing when content, for instance, when...

Hereafter
is one of the most remarkable movies I’ve seen in a great deal of time. Matt Damon is yet to disappoint me as an actor, which is shocking because he has been around for such a great deal of time. I don’t believe in an afterlife and this movie still hit me hard. An absolute must see.

Moving Onward and Upward
One of the most disappointing (and intriguing) aspects of life is that it rarely meets our expectations, and even less frequently exceeds them. We endure the daily turmoil heading nowhere, with nothing shown for our efforts more frequently that not. Most often though, we find that the largest obstacles we are bound to face are those which can be accredited to ourselves, after all our own demons...

It is truly humorous the insane monotony that is Valentines Day. Yearly we celebrate this preposterous holiday that is designed around “love”. Since when did we become required to buy chocolates, flowers, and other material things for our lovers to signify our “love”. Once this holiday begins to make sense, I’ll try to make sense of it, but until then I’ll...

I stood outside, on my balcony, with the cold brisk air blowing against my back, sending shivers down my spine, for what seemed like moments, but was realistically over an hour. As I watched the snow drift peacefully down to the ground, my mind wandered. I allowed my mind to drift to so many memories, so many thoughts, that I’ve allowed myself to block out for so long. Quietly, I recalled...

“Downtown Owl”, by Chuck Klosterman and it was a truly captivating read. If you have not yet read this particular work, stop what you’re doing, and read it. No, seriously.

It is all too easy in this world to get lost. To find yourself completely stranded. Unfortunately as many times as we realize this truth, or even battle through it, it is always a frightening prospect. We are, after-all just sort of flowing, with no direction, almost aimlessly. Sure, there may be those times when we accept a current reality as “fate,” or “destiny,” or even...

I am...
Perfectly flawed. I am the beginning, and coincidentally the ending. I am the man standing in front of the mirror without the slightest idea as to who is staring back into his eyes. I am over-privileged in my low-income housing. I am wearing a hundred dollar jack to cover my stolen shirt. I am saying all too much without speaking a single word. I am looking at you without seeing your eyes, or even...

To whom it may concern,
Numerous times today a former lover crossed my mind. As I found myself contemplating ridiculous romantic gestures and ways to win her affection back, the real world slapped me. Chin bruised, cheek aching, head ringing I proceeded onward with my day. Drive, work, drive, home, school work, a great deal of real world problems to occupy my time. It was only when I stopped focusing on everything else...

Optimism, so strange how it can be misplaced. People without so much as a second thought drop there’s off into a trash can they may pass by, and pull out of their side pocket the pessimism. Who ever made the claim that optimism was such a bad thing, that we should not posses it. When did optimism become the cocaine of society, illegal to own? There is no reason to have the inherent belief...

Let me close my eyes, as if I were blind. Shadows may illuminate my walls and dance like children around my room, however the entertainment is lost. For a moment I find myself dizzy, lost, confused. It progresses, I’m out of breath, struggling, fighting, losing. My thoughts are all over the place, enraged, sorrowful, distressed.  Feelings are nothing. They are nothing at all. I hide, stay...
